Description: Can it still be called a newspaper if you don’t print it on paper anymore? Well, La Presse, a French language newspaper with a history of over 130 years in publication, will be switching to a digital version only (with the exception of Saturdays) beginning in 2016. Over the last 10 years, the newspaper business has seen a revenue drop of over 60% here in North America. Industry watchers will focus in on what other companies might do in the face of these trends.

Discussion Points:

1) Do you ever read a paper version of a newspaper? Why or why not?

2) What sort of models might news organizations use to produce revenue streams in the digital market?

3) Will La Presse need to account for this as a discontinued operation? Why or why not?
